I learned about Harvest Newtown last fall when we planned a work lunch there, and I fell in love with its food!
The seasonally changing, mostly-less-than-500-calories and non-GMO menu allows you to enjoy incredibly fresh, healthy and decadent dishes that will leave you satisfied while keeping you closer to your nutritional goals — a big plus for me!
Keeping in mind I had yet to be disappointed when I’ve been there for lunch, I wanted to try something new and also introduce my boyfriend to the amazing cuisine, so we made brunch reservations this past Saturday.
The brunch menu has options for everyone: waffles, omelets, breakfast sandwiches, home fries … you name it — not to mention the amazing vegetarian and vegan options across all menus. However, we quickly spotted certain dishes on the lunch menu we couldn’t pass on, so we dropped the “br” and brought the “l” back. Ha!
We shared the Korean BBQ chicken lettuce wraps — do yourself a favor and try these if you find yourself there — and while I enjoyed a refreshing rosé sangria, my boyfriend opted for a full Portuguese Cabernet. For my entrée, I went with the vegetable and grain “fried rice” bowl with grilled shrimp, and my boyfriend chose the amazing grilled winter chicken club (served on delicious naan flatbread). Upon taking the first bites of our dishes, we looked at each other with our eyes wide open and said “Oh, my God!”
My bowl consisted of farro; red quinoa; snow peas; carrot; bell pepper; onion; edamame; and JUST egg, a plant-based, mung-bean vegan egg substitute. It was topped with a drizzle of sesame oil, tamari, crispy shallots, kimchi, pea tendrils, lime, crispy wasabi rice noodles and cilantro. Yes, my mouth watered writing this.
This is definitely one of those spots you can go for any occasion. If you’re a foodie just like us, you won’t be disappointed!
