The lead story in this week’s eFlyer USA covered the record number of flight cancelations this winter due to poor weather. As reported, U.S. airlines canceled more than 75,000 domestic flights since Dec. 1, according to data from the Department of Transportation. This figure represents an all-time high.
As I mentioned in a previous blog, my travel to Los Angeles for the GT Tested Reader Survey awards was especially hectic due to delays and cancelations from a winter storm. Luckily, I have not experienced many weather-related flight issues, though I have heard horror stories from friends about sleeping in airports, loosing luggage, missing connections and canceling meetings, all due to weather. I’m thankful I live about a 10-minute drive from the office and rarely have travel plans during the unpredictable winter months.
