I was enjoying dinner with the GT staff last night at Osteria Del Circo in New York.  When it came time for dessert, my colleague said she just loves dessert! Many concurred and chimed in with the idea that we should eat dessert first in all meals. I would love to practice that, but I simply don’t have enough time to hit the gym! Recently, I’ve been restaurant-hopping in NY and have discovered some phenomenal desserts.  My favorite to date has to be the dessert at the restaurant Nobu 57.  I had the opportunity to do a dessert sampling, and my favorite was the Suntory Whisky Iced Cappuccino comprised of coffee cream, coffee-cocoa crumble, milk gelato, Suntory whisky foam all plated in a cappuccino cup! The pastry chef is Italian, and all the desserts were plated so beautifully they were like pieces of art. While they were certainly savory and sweet, none were too overly rich, which complemented the Japanese food wonderfully. Last night at Osteria Del Circo, I shared the Zuccotto al Cioccolato consisting of milk chocolate mousse sponge cake with dry meringue. I almost ordered a second one. I recommend Magnolia’s bakery, another good option for anyone with a hankering for sweets in NY who doesn’t have time to sit through an elegant meal. I have a hard time resisting walking into Magnolia’s whenever I pass by, and they have  several locations scattered around the city.
