Over the weekend I returned home from the Gulf and was once again mystified by the Arabian nights and celebratory events that are in place during the month of Ramadan. However, you will have to stay tuned for those adventures because today’s my birthday and I’m going to keep this short and sweet! Birthdays are great and I feel they should be celebrated no matter what the age. It’s always fun to have a birthday wish or dream. Hey, if you don’t dream how will any of your wishes come true! I made sure to be home in NYC to celebrate my birthday with friends and family. However, if I could make a birthday wish come true right now, I would bring those friends and family with me to the sands of Abu Dhabi, Dubai or Doha! I can rarely put my finger on one thing that draws me to any spot in the world, but in the Gulf, it is surely a mixture of the great people I met, the pace of business and life and the opportunity to experience something different. If you are traveling to the UAE or Qatar in the near future, grant a birthday wish for me – have dinner at the Fairmont Dubai, walk around the souk in Abu Dhabi. In Doha, be sure to have a spa treatment at the Six Senses Spa at the Sharq Village & Spa, followed up by lounging around one of the gorgeous blue pools! Enough daydreaming for me today, it’s back to work, but a very Happy Birthday to anyone who shares October 16th! -Alexandra Young, associate publisher and vice president

Apr 24, 2024Fairfield by Marriott Phnom Penh Review
Phnom Penh as we imagined it stretches beneath us: a picturesque, low-rise mix of Southeast Asian and French Colonial styles. When the inhabitants of those buildings look back at us here in the Fairfield by Marriott hotel in Chip Mong Tower, they see the future.
