I spent Memorial Day Weekend in Montauk with my friends and family. We decided to get a cabana at the beach club at Gurney’s on Memorial Day. It was such a nice, sunny day, and we wanted to make the most of it. Michael Nenner, executive vice president, Gurney’s, was kind enough to reserve us the best spot on the beach.

The lobby was beautiful with modern, chic décor, but it felt nautical and homey. From the minute we walked in, we didn’t lift a finger. We were escorted to the beach where we had huge sofas, umbrellas and loungers set up for us. They gave us sparkling and still water, complimentary boxes containing sunscreen, aloe and Chapstick. The staff was friendly and attentive. My friends have a 2-year-old, and they brought her a basket full of beach toys to play with.

We ordered food and cocktails, both excellent. Even the presentation was so nice, which was surprising considering they had to bring it down many stairs from the grill to the beach. The water was too cold to swim, so we sunbathed and played cornhole and Connect Four. The DJ played such good music; everyone was dancing and having so much fun. We had such a great time, we decided to go back to the house, shower, then go back to Gurney’s to sit by the firepits and watch the sunset. It was honestly the best Memorial Day I had ever had.
