I have lived in Los Angeles my entire life and am still learning about new restaurants to explore. This past week I tried one, and it looks like it will be a new favorite. The L’Ermitage Beverly Hills Hotel is home to the upscale restaurant Livello. Nestled to the side of the lobby, the intimate setting with dark lighting, low ceilings and marble fireplace gives a great atmosphere to a meal with friends, family or a dinner meeting.

Chef Joseph Elevado kicks off his fall menu with a delicious dinner of fish and steak with Asian and Italian flavors. Staff served us promptly with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc that paired perfectly with our first few dishes. I started my meal with seasonal oysters adorned with a smoked ponzu gelee and green onion. To follow, we had the tuna crudo — enough to serve the table. The lemon-infused olive oil gave the dish a distinct flavor. Next, I had my favorite dish (one I highly recommend): the miso-marinated black cod. The cod melted in my mouth, and we cleared the plate in record time. To round out the fish offerings, we sampled the grilled octopus and broiled lemon prawns paired with a great bean puree.

To help transition to the meat portion of the meal, we had a glass of red wine. I am normally not a fan, but it was mellow enough to enjoy with my meal. We tried an interesting plate of oxtail tortellini. It was surprisingly delicious and perfect for a fall menu. To round out the night we shared an eight-ounce filet mignon.

Overall, the experience at Livello was perfect. I look forward to bringing friends and maybe taking advantage of the outdoor heater on the patio for a small party.
