These past weeks have been rough — being away from loved ones, not being able to hug and kiss, not being able to go out.
We all need inspiration, hope and things to keep busy to try to avoid anxiety, depression and the urge to go out for absolutely nothing essential, so here are some of the things I’ve tried in an attempt to not lose it.
One of the first things I want to get back to when this is over is travel, so I’ve been researching and investigating for my next trip.
I’ve always been a huge fan of world history, from mythologies to historical facts, especially the story about the two queens, Mary from Scotland and Elizabeth from England. There’s a wonderful four-season show called Reign about this amazing story. This has been inspiration for my next trip to the United Kingdom, where I’ll be visiting England, Scotland and Ireland. I’ve been looking at flight prices, accommodations, tours — the complete package — because I’m doing this myself rather than through an agency.
Starting new shows can always be a good distraction. Once you dive in, the series can kill time faster than you imagine. If you feel like comedy, you can try The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, a housewife in late 1950s and early 1960s New York City who discovers she has a knack for stand-up comedy and pursues a career; it’s a great show! I love when a show can transport you to another time, another place. If you feel adventurous — and coming back to the United Kingdom topic — you can also watch Outlander. Imagine you were taken back in time and you start to witness all of the great historical events; this show will make you want to go back in time.
I’m a musical person and I love fantasy, so I know all Archie comics and related TV shows won’t fail me: Riverdale, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and the most recent I’m in love with, Katy Keene.
All the shows mentioned and planning my next trips have kept me busy and distracted. We should all focus on doing what makes us feel good ourselves, not what other people think we should be doing. These are difficult times and we all should go through it at our rhythm, in our own ways.
Please stay home; stay safe. We’ll hug again; we’ll travel again.
