I am the self-appointed dessert connoisseur in the family, my group of friends and among work colleagues. I absolutely need to have something sweet at the end of a meal and gleefully love to find new dessert haunts wherever I travel or those new to Los Angeles.
Most West Coasters have heard of VooDoo Donuts, based out of Portland, Ore. Its eclectic, designed donuts are fun to look at, even more fun to say out loud and even better to eat, with selections ranging from raised yeast, cake and vegan. They have several outlets in Oregon but are slowly growing nationally in busy tourist areas like Universal City Walk in Hollywood, Calif., and Orlando, Fla., and now in Denver and Austin.
