My family and I recently took a trip to Shady Brook Farm to check out its annual Horrorfest Halloween activities. Located in Yardley, Penn., Shady Brook has been operating since 1913; yes, more 100 years! Pretty amazing. The family-friendly farm has a variety of activities for all ages. Whether you are looking for the haunted hayride/house thrill or just a night out to roast marshmallows, sing SCARE-aoke and enjoy hot chocolate, Shady Brook has it all to offer. On our visit, we opted to try the Hayride of Horror. As I am expecting a little one, I wasn’t sure if it would be very comfortable for me. I immediately was picturing the large stacks of hay you have to sit on and the bumpy tractor ride. Fortunately, the ride was quite comfortable! The hay seats are now wooden benches, with plenty of leg room and space, and the ride was quite smooth, aside from the creatures and characters attempting to scare you. After the hayride, some of of our group decided to try the haunted house, but I decided to find a spot near the bonfires. It was a chilly night, so it was the perfect way to warm up! Plus, my nieces and nephews enjoyed making s’mores. We all had a great time and it definitely put us in the mood for the fall season! Shady Brook is actually less than a mile from Global Traveler‘s headquarters. Now that Halloween has passed, I already noticed the festive lights going up for its annual Holiday Light Show. Guests can drive through the farm and see an arrangement of Christmas light displays. Something to look forward to for the holiday season!
