During my recent trip to Dubai, I had the pleasure of staying at the lovely and newly opened Taj Dubai. From beginning to end, my experience at the gorgeous property was wonderful. I was fortunate to have enough time to explore the hotel and experience a bit of its offerings, particularly the dining options. While I have only had Indian cuisine a handful of times, I decided I would try out the hotel’s Indian restaurant, Bombay Brasserie. The overall ambience of the restaurant is quite inviting and accommodating for any occasion, from a night out with friends to an intimate date night or, in my case, a relaxing dinner for one! The restaurant has amazing views of downtown Dubai, including the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa. I opted for a seat at the bar seating area, featuring a large open kitchen, where you can watch the chefs prepare your dishes. Loved this! I was greeted by a very friendly young man who was my server for the evening. I let him know I wasn’t too familiar with Indian cuisine but was pretty open to trying different dishes. He was more than happy to help with my selection, and he made several suggestions along with detailed descriptions of each dish. I opted for the most traditional dishes, including the chicken tikka. Each dish was prepared to my liking, and the mixture of seasonings and spices offered strong but delicious flavors. The spacing of the courses allowed for a relaxed, no-rush meal that I realized is quite rare these days. Two thumbs up for Bombay Brasserie!
