Recently, with some of my colleagues, I had the pleasure to attend our 14^th annual Leisure Lifestyle Awards in Miami a few weeks back. I, however, had the luxury of driving rather than flying in. Come with me as I recap my mini road trip from the west coast to the east coast of Florida.

After finishing up packing, I soon made my solo trip down to Miami on Sunday morning from Sarasota. First stop was Starbucks; I chose the convenient option before heading south on I-75. I choose my staple — a venti ice caramel macchiato with an extra shot of expresso, giving me that much-needed caffeine boost.

I always enjoy a solo road trip of listening to the music I choose or just replaying my song of the week without worrying about someone else. I also just enjoy driving and the sights while doing so. The drive to Miami is truly not terrible; it goes by rather quickly (at least for me!).

Soon enough it was time for my first pit stop, and I decided to stop at the rest stop area on Alligator Alley. For many this is not just a rest stop but a place to feel and see the true side of Florida. Many take this time to learn more about Everglades National Park and see wildlife (mainly alligators). I, however, had places to be and people to see on this Sunday and thought to save this exploration for another time.

Soon enough traffic began getting heavier and more lanes started to appear. Dade County was approaching. As I went through the numerous tolls, I soon made it to downtown Miami. Like any normal person, I chose to listen to the only artist that makes sense when you’re visiting Miami, the one and only Pitbull. In many of his songs he references just how much he loves the Miami area. Let’s just say it got me locked-in for the city I was visiting.

I arrived at the Intercontinental Miami where I was kindly welcomed by the valet team. After checking in, I made my way to the 29^th floor, where I soon ordered room service.

Life doesn’t get any better than staying at the Intercontinental Miami and enjoying tasty room service!
