Boston is one of those cities that leaves you wanting more.
More ferry rides across the harbor, strolls through Beacon Hill and, maybe, some more cannoli from Mike’s Pastries (I wouldn’t be upset about that).
I have many fond memories of the city, such as visiting my aunt and her children, waking up bright and early to their Mario and Luigi imitations, complemented by fake mustaches on their upper lips.
While this memory couldn’t possibly be topped, last weekend in Boston may take the cake for most iconic.

Like a lady in red, I strutted into TD Gardens to see Lady Gaga perform Sunday night.
Decades of being her fan finally paid off, as I was too young to see her during her last tour. I attended the concert by myself (a first for me), but it was just more validation to belt out each song with no regrets.
I decided to stay the full weekend in Boston to kick back and relax before heading to the concert.
I stayed at the lovely Liberty Hotel; stay tuned for my review in an upcoming issue of Global Traveler.

Sep 30, 2026Review: Sushi by Scratch at Grand Hyatt Deer Valley
Husband-and-wife team Phillip Frankland Lee and Margarita Kallas-Lee made their mark by reinventing the term “hidden gem” through their surprising and intentional collection of destination restaurants. While they launched the original Scratch Kitchen in 2013, an expired lease prompted them to relocate to an unassuming strip mall in suburban Encino in 2015 and rename it Scratch Bar & Kitchen. Even at a time when the San Fernando Valley was not known for innovative 5-star dining, the Lees’ concepts gathered such a strong buzz that discerning diners cheerfully followed them “over the hill.”
