Baltimore, Maryland, just announced a nearly $2 billion investment across arts, culture and sports in the region, prioritizing its commitment to advancing quality of life for residents as well as improve attractions and sites for visitors. These investments span key venues across the city, including Oriole Park at Camden Yards, M&T Stadium and CFG Bank Arena.

A $135 million-approved budget is funding a multiphase renovation to modernize Baltimore’s MLB stadium with new premium clubs, enhanced concourses, upgraded video and sound, and expanded fan amenities. Nearly $490 million is going to modernize the home of the Baltimore Ravens, too, including upgraded retail; new premium club spaces; and a three-level, open-air entertainment destination with a main stage and sports bar.

CFG Bank Arena recently completed a $250 million renovation, re-emerging as a national touring and events destination and driving year-round entertainment programming and increased visitation. Pimlico Racecourse is currently undergoing upgrades in a $500 million transformation, improving facilities, community space and adding a new 800-stall training center at Shamrock Farm.

The Pikesville Armory, a 120-year-old history site, will receive a multi-year redevelopment to turn it into a 14-acre arts and recreation campus with artist studios, indoor sports facilities, performance space, public art, outdoor athletic fields and community amenities. The historic B&O Railroad Museum is also undergoing redevelopment, as well as The Performing Arts Center.

Review: Bodysgallen Hall

The National Trust owns more than 500 historic buildings across the United Kingdom, each offering a vivid sense of its particular era. Here I was, immersed in history in 17th-century Bodysgallen Hall in North Wales.

Why Japan Is Best Explored by Sea with Princess

Japan is a destination that rewards repeat visits because no two regions — or seasons —  feel quite the same. One moment, you’re wandering through centuries-old geisha districts in Kanazawa. The next, you’re watching neon reflections dance across Tokyo streets long after midnight.
