ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: My stay at Park Hyatt New York was exceptional from start to finish. After entering on the ground floor and taking an elevator to the lobby, I was pleased to find no wait at the check-in desk. After answering a few questions about my personal preferences and getting my room keys, I was quickly in the elevator and on my way to my 1 Bedroom Sleep Suite by Bryte, eager for the experience that awaited me.

GUEST QUARTERS: Upon entering my suite, I was immediately awed. The door opens into a small entryway, off of which sits a half-bathroom. To the left, the suite opens up into a spacious living room boasting an armoire housing the minibar; a sofa; a mounted flat-screen TV; and a desk, which overlooks windows with views of NYC and Central Park through the breaks in the buildings. I was especially happy to find an incredible cheese plate, beautifully presented under a glass dome, waiting for me on the living room coffee table.

The star of the suite sits in the bedroom, The Restorative Bed by Bryte, adorned with a sleep mask, essential oils and a sleepytime tea to help promote a good night’s sleep. The bed features a smart mattress connected to technology that helps optimize sleep nightly. The bed can be adjusted to a guest’s personal sleep preferences, from temperature to mattress firmness, via a tablet next to the bed. I chose a gentle motion to wake me the next morning, which preceded a full report on my sleep from the Bryte bed.

It’s also suggested guests take a warm bath before climbing into the Bryte bed for the night, and an inviting bathtub sits in the full bathroom, to the right of the bedroom’s entrance. A short hallway with a closet leads into the bathroom, with the standalone tub, a water closet and a large shower with an incredible rainfall showerhead. Le Labo bath amenities boasted a pleasant scent. A one-night stay wasn’t long enough!

SERVICES/AMENITIES: The list of the amenities is long, starting with the indoor saltwater swimming pool with eucalyptus steam room and hot tub. Spa Nalai’s three treatment rooms and Rossano Ferretti Hairspa were busy when I quickly popped my head in, and the Manhattan skyline views from the large 24- hour fitness center would definitely make a workout all the more bearable.

Approximately 9,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space can host any type of function.

I did not have a chance to dine at The Living Room, inspired by the vibe of a New York City apartment and serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and tapas-style appetizers alongside signature cocktails and wines. I did enjoy breakfast in my room before heading out, and the food arrived quickly and was delicious.

TOP TAKEAWAYS:

  • Take time to enjoy the art on display around the property. During my stay, the rotating art exhibition featured contemporary abstract artist and hotel bellman of eight years, Jeffrey Okyere- Agyei. More than 350 museum-quality pieces can be found throughout the hotel.
  • The hotel was perfectly located for all of my New York City adventures, from dinner and a Broadway musical with a friend at night to a full day at Jacob K. Javits Convention Center the next day.
  • I was truly fascinated by the entire The Restorative Bed by Bryte experience, pouring over the report the next morning to discover how many hours of deep sleep I’d experienced, how many times I moved and so much more information.
  • All interiors are designed by Yabu Pushelberg.

The 1969 Woodstock Music and Art Fair was one of the first major music festivals to offer on-site camping, allowing attendees to remain immersed in the experience without ever leaving the grounds. These days, vast stretches of summer farmland east and west of the festival site are still transformed each summer into a cultural wonderland, offering bazaars, arts and crafts, music and educational events, and camping sites, providing festival-goers with a peaceful escape into nature and allowing visitors today to experience the same landscape that welcomed 450,000 people during the iconic 1969 Woodstock Festival event.
