Last Sunday afternoon was magical. The Skokie Theatre presented Illusion Inclusion, a benefit for The Autism Hero Project.

Emcee Madison Hernandez, U.S.A. Teen Illinois 2022, guided the audience through nearly two hours of music and magic. Violinist Sara Papic provided a beautiful backdrop to autistic magician Cody Clark as he amazed all with classic illusions.
Brought on stage at a magic show when he was 11, Clark was inspired to pursue magic. Along with Clark’s goal of entertaining people, his personalized approach encourages everyone to be themselves. It’s this type of inclusion that makes all attendees feel part of the act and, more importantly, special.

All proceeds help the Autism Hero Project purchase medical insurance for children on the spectrum and gain access to therapies. Special merchandise and raffles added to the fundraising and the fun.

A nonprofit organization, the Autism Hero Project has the goal to “prepare kids with autism for the world and prepare the world for them.” Perhaps as important as raising funds and awareness is creating a world of inclusion.

The show was entertaining, but the feeling everyone had was even better. We really all felt like we were part of something special.
