Dating back to the third or fourth century, the Catacombs of San Gennaro is an underground, paleo-Christian burial and worship site in northern Naples. Burials within the catacombs include tombs, sarcophagi and arcosoli. The postcard-worthy island of Procida features colorful houses and boats up and down the coast. The island sits a 1.5-hour ferry ride from Naples and was named as a candidate for the Italian Capital of Culture in 2022.
