The Transportation Security Administration announced its PreCheck program reached 10 million members.
The program started in December 2013, and since, TSA added more than 400 enrollment centers nationwide. Between March 2019 and February 2020 alone, membership increased by 18 percent.
The organization set a 10 million-member milestone in the TSA Modernization Act. The goal was hit ahead of the Oct. 1 deadline.
“Today’s milestone is important to aviation security,” said David Pekoske, administrator, TSA. “The more individuals who are enrolled in TSA PreCheck, the more we can focus resources on individuals who more likely pose a risk to aviation security. It’s better security and a better experience for travelers.”
The PreCheck program allows low-risk travelers an expedited process through airport security, as they’re allowed to keep shoes on, leave laptops in bags and more. Around 94 percent of passengers in PreCheck lanes waited less than five minutes in security lines this January.
Applicants can enroll in the TSA PreCheck program for $85 for five years. Approval allows expedited security with 73 participating airlines.

The music perfectly complements the atmosphere, enhancing the hotel’s effortlessly cool, nostalgic feel.
