La Ciudadela
As you have read in previous blogs, the GT Tested Reader Survey awards were held in L.A. Dec 11. It was my second time in the United States and my first in L.A.; and since I’m based in Mexico City, I hadn’t had the honor to meet face-to-face with the entire GT crew until that trip, so it was exciting for me.

Christmas Getaways
I have always spent Christmas with family, but I often hear from others who opt to travel for the holiday and do their own thing. So I started to think about where I would travel if my family decided to stray from our traditional Christmas celebration.
Tsukiji Fish Market, Japan
When I think of Dr Seuss’s One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish book, I am convinced he spent a day at Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo. Tsukiji is the largest wholesale fish and seafood market in the world, located in the Tsukiji section of Tokyo between the Sumida River and the Ginza shopping district. The market has two sections, the Inner and the Outer markets. The Inner is where the licensed wholesale dealers operate stalls and where auctions are held. The coveted Blue Fin tuna auctions are the biggest. The Outer Market was the section for the general public. The market was a major tourist attraction for both domestic and overseas visitors. It opened in 1935 and closed in 2018, moving two miles away to the new and twice-as-large Toyusu Market.

Remarkable Medellín
Visiting Medellín in Colombia: The Country of Beauty is like stepping into a fantastic story — literally, as the city in the Western Colombian Andes region inspired Disney’s Encanto. Here, valleys, the world’s tallest palms, vibrant communities, colorful houses, garden-like balconies and more prove reality is more picturesque than anything on film. And it’s especially more tempting following Medellín’s remarkable transformation, shedding its troubled past and reawakening as a city of innovation, art, cultural richness, modern infrastructure, thriving tourism and resiliency.
