ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: After a long day of exploration in a different part of Cyprus, I arrived at Amara after nightfall. As we pulled up to the hotel, I was already in awe of the outside, but once I got out of the car, the entrance had me itching to explore the rest of the property. The spacious lobby was beautiful, with modern, chic décor that proved a welcoming place for guests to unwind and relax. Check-in went smoothly, and luckily my room was ready, so I was able to relax and refresh before dinner.

GUEST QUARTERS: I was impressed by the lobby, but the room took my breath away. It was definitely one of the nicest — if not the nicest — hotel rooms I’ve ever stayed in. A long hallway with closets and a full-length mirror led me into the room, where a bathroom sat on the right-hand side.

As I entered the bathroom, a double vanity stood in front of me, a full tub on the right, a walk-in shower on the left and a private toilet next to it. The best part was the tub — not only inviting but also offering the perfect view of the TV in the bedroom, so I could watch it as I soaked. I could control the volume from the bathroom as well as hear it clearly thanks to speakers above the tub. Barn doors separating the tub from the bedroom can be closed for privacy when multiple guests occupy the room.

In the bedroom, a king-sized bed with two end tables sat to the right, while a TV and a dresser below stood on the left. Next to the dresser, an L-shaped couch offered a space to unwind during downtime without mussing the bedding. Another favorite, the vanity/make-up area, sat in a corner of the room, where I enjoyed getting ready for the day or for a night out on the town … it was a nice touch. Finally, the best part of the room: the balcony. All rooms at Amara include a luxury balcony looking out at the sea. Whenever I had some downtime, I chose to sit outside and soak up the one-of-a- kind views — I probably could have sat there all day.

SERVICES/AMENITIES: Guests staying at Amara have plenty of ways to spend their time. You can soak up the sun (and the views) while relaxing by the huge infinity pool, treat yourself to a luxury spa treatment, reach a state of zen at the indoor spa pool, get a quick workout in at the indoor gym, take a dip in the Mediterranean and much more.

Amara hosts multiple restaurants including a stunning and delicious Nobu. World-renowned Chef Nobu Matsuhisa worked with Amara to bring a twist to Cyprus’ culinary scene with the opening of Matsuhisa Limassol. Other on-site restaurants include Ristorante Locatelli, Beefbar and Nerea. A full breakfast buffet every morning features breakfast meats, fruits, bread, eggs, yogurt, and many other dishes and sides.

Families staying at Amara will be delighted to see the hotel has a kids’ club where young travelers can spend the day with other kids their age while parents relax by the pool or spend time at the spa.

TOP TAKEAWAYS:

  • Every room in the hotel faces the sea, so every guest has the chance to soak up the stunning views.
  • The hotel has direct access to the Mediterranean Sea, giving guests the option to relax by the pool or the sea.
  • Amara Hotel gives the feel of a resort stay, making it the perfect option for travelers looking to relax and unwind without having to leave the property for anything.
