Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants recently expanded its international footprint with three new properties in Manchester, England; Bangkok; and Tokyo. With this expansion, Kimpton has its fourth property in the United Kingdom. Kimpton Da An opened in Taipei in 2019, and the brand also has the following hotels in its pipeline: Bali, 2021; Suzhou, 2022; Hong Kong, Shanghai, Nanjing and Kuala Lumpur in 2023; and Sanyain in 2025.
Kimpton Clocktower Hotel in Manchester opened Oct. 1 in a building dating to 1890 and first opened as The Refuge Assurance Company headquarters. A striking clocktower serves as the centerpiece, and all 270 loft-style bedrooms showcase the double- and triple-height ceilings with original Victorian-era features. In an homage to the city’s music scene, guestrooms include vinyl records. The Winter Garden offers a spot to enjoy a meal or drink, and The Refuge at Volta serves small plates, craft beers and cocktails.
Also opened Oct. 1, Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok is the brand’s first property in Southeast Asia, and is located adjacent to Lumpini Park. Inside, handcrafted textiles and materials were sourced locally and traditional Thai tapestries can be found throughout. Of the 362 rooms and suites, 131 are serviced residences. Some of the property’s amenities include HARNN bath amenities, kimono-style robes, rooftop yoga lessons and four immersive dining venues.
On Oct. 2, Kimpton Shinjuku opened in the heart of the city, featuring bold and playful designs, and Japanese art with Art Deco elements. The 151 luxury guestrooms boast La Bottega amenities, a bath turndown and the Kimpton nightly social hour. Its culinary experience is rooted in New York culture with The Jones Café | Bar, a classic New York-style café. District Brasserie uses local produce and blends the flavors of Italy, Mexico and Asia. Find a secret bar on the outdoor terrace inspired by Manhattan’s Prohibition era.

Apr 17, 2024Amansara Review
It was more than a car journey; it was a transition between worlds. The mundanities of mass tourism were left behind. We progressed through the chaotic Cambodian streets in regal comfort and soon arrived at a solid gate.
