National Piña Colada Day is July 10, and the Caribe Hilton — known as the birthplace of the fruity rum cocktail— is debuting a new colada menu.
Offered in the hotel’s Caribar, the menu showcases the original Piña Colada developed by Ramón “Monchito” Marrero more than 60 years ago, in addition to new takes on the iconic umbrella drink like the Clear Colada, a contemporary take on the Piña Colada incorporating rum fat-washed with coconut oil giving the drink a creamy and mouth coating texture. Mixing clarified pineapple juice adds acidity and Caribar’s house-made syrup adds sweetness.
