When I interviewed sports reporter Kacy Standohar a few years ago, she stated Italy was a dream trip, although she had never traveled out of the United States. Since then, as her career flourished, so have her travels.

I first met Kacy about eight years ago when we both worked with the Chicago Bandits women’s pro softball team. Relocating from her native Ohio, Kacy looked to build her media career in Chicago. In the following years she added sideline reporting, podcasts, hosting and, most recently, anchoring NBC5’s sportscasts.

Work brought Kacy to new destinations including Philadelphia, Nashville and even inside the legendary Wrigley Field scoreboard. Her dream trip to Italy was all pleasure, though. With her travel interest ignited, she ventured to France, San Francisco and many other destinations. Her trip to Detroit included an added surprise of an engagement.

In our interview Kacy described her hectic but exciting life in sports media. She talked about traveling for work, pleasure or a combo. We finished with a short discussion of Chicago favorites.

Kacy is very talented with a bright future. She amazes me with her ability to flawlessly change roles and sports. I enjoy all her work but especially when our paths occasionally cross when we work the same sporting event. Knowing how dedicated and passionate she is, it’s a pleasure watching her career develop and her travels continue.
