Two weeks ago, I had the opportunity to attend the 2011 New York Auto Show. As it was my first time at an auto show, I must say I was very impressed. The show took place at the Javits Center and, as you can imagine, was enormous. Each car company showcased its upcoming models for the fall. I enjoyed having a sneak peek at the new models, many of which are not available to buy until later this year. Each car company held press conferences throughout the day. I was surprised during the Mercedes press event when a flash mob started dancing and singing about buying a Mercedes-Benz. I was certainly not expecting this, but it caught everyone’s attention. It was also a surprise to walk by the Mini Cooper press event and see the rock band KISS performing on the small vehicles. Growing up in a family in the car wash business, I think I am pretty knowledgeable about the car industry. I am always aware of the recent cars and models in the United States, particularly the shapes and looks of new vehicles. I never realized how much work and time go into the interior design, though. I learned more about this at the auto show and press conferences. For car enthusiasts, or those looking to learn more about the industry, the show is definitely something you do not want to miss!
