There’s just something about warm weather that instantly puts me in the mood for patio lounging and good company. When the sun’s out and the temperature climbs past 70, you can bet I’m scouting out the nearest spot with cocktails and delicious appetizers.

This past weekend, with Mother’s Day right around the corner, my family and I decided to celebrate a little early. We headed over to Harvest Seasonal Bar & Grill in Newtown to soak up the sunshine … and good food.

We kicked things off strong with a round of Amalfi Spritz — bright, refreshing and just right for the perfect sunny evening. Infused with lemon and a hint of lavender, the cocktail was as fragrant as it was flavorful. My mom felt right back in Italy, her favorite place.

Paired well with the tuna poke nachos, the spritz brought out all the right flavors. The citrusy notes played off the fresh tuna and creamy avocado to curate the perfect bite.

Next up, we hit the familiar dilemma: Everything on the menu sounded amazing, and none of us could settle on just one thing. After some back and forth, I went with the sesame chicken, and I’m so glad I did. Bursting with flavor and beautifully plated, it was vibrant, savory and just the right amount of sweet. Fun fact: It was originally a seasonal item but made its way back to the full-time menu thanks to popular demand — and after tasting it, I totally get why.

Enough gab and delicious drinks to keep the night going, it was time well spent with the people I love most. Harvest delivered on all fronts, and kicking off Mother’s Day a little early ended up being the perfect excuse to slow down and savor it all. If you’re looking for a spot that feels equal parts laid-back and thoughtful, this one is definitely worth a visit.
