On Friday I flew into McCarran Airport in Las Vegas. Living in Los Angeles makes it very easy to meet clients around California for quick meetings. In the past year I have done several daytrips where I park my car at the airport and fly into Las Vegas, Phoenix or San Francisco. The flights range from 45 minutes to two hours; and if I take an early enough flight, I have a whole day to focus on meetings. Though I am still getting used to being in a different city or state during the day and being back in Los Angeles in time for dinner, it’s a pretty fun experience.

This time I had meetings in Las Vegas, and we took the shuttle into the new Cosmopolitan hotel.  The Cosmopolitan just celebrated its first birthday, and with its core branding for the upscale traveler, it caters to a unique crowd for business and leisure. With the elegant yet modern décor, it has a great feel for the business traveler with easy-to-conduct meetings in its many alcoves or restaurants. Milos on the second level is a perfect example. The Greek-inspired restaurant was quiet enough to conduct business, but the views of the Las Vegas strip reminded you of the energy running through the city. Although I was pressed for time, I still took a moment to soak up the excitement of Sin City while walking through the casino, weaving in between slightly inebriated and fun-loving tourists and gamblers.

Overall, the day was a success, and I look forward to my next daytrip to a different city for business.
