I’m not a huge car enthusiast, but when I heard about Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals, I decided to go. I am glad I did because it was an amazing event.

Held at Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, just west of Chicago, it filled 400,000 square feet of exhibition space. More than 550 prime muscle cars, dealer-built specials and Corvettes were the main focus. Other attractions included special unveilings, panels, certifications, authors and more. SUGO the Band and RealTime Noise provided music each night.    

There were even plenty of activities for youngsters, although older folks were just as interested in some. I saw quite a few adults envious of kids at “Make & Take” model car build and Hot Wheels races. Youngsters also enjoyed the scavenger hunt and coloring contest.    

One of my favorite parts was simply observing the mostly male crowd. Many looked longingly at certain cars they either had or always wanted. Some probably spent more time inspecting these cars than their own. Others took the opportunity to show off their car knowledge, whether other attendees wanted to hear it or not. It all added to the fun, though.
