Wow, I can’t believe Christmas is here already! Since my family is hosting Christmas dinner this year, today is all about the preparations. Last night, I spent a couple hours wrapping gifts. One was mine, the rest were my dad’s gifts to my mom. Let’s just say he’s not the best wrapper, so I help him out each year. So far this morning, I’ve helped prepare some of the dinner dishes for tomorrow — the base for the green bean casserole, various salads. And as the day goes on, the cleaning will begin. Vacuuming, dusting and scrubbing is how we will spend most of the Christmas Eve day. Hopefully, I find a couple hours to run out and do some errands. No last-minute Christmas shopping; that’s been done for two weeks. Tonight we will go out to an early dinner; a tradition we started about 10–15 years ago. It gets harder and harder to find nice restaurants open reasonable hours on Christmas Eve. After dinner, we head to church and then come home and bring all the presents downstairs, fill the stockings and get ready to wait for Santa Claus.
