The KAI Foundation is a nonprofit organization that is focused on bettering communities in need. Henry and Claire Kartagener went on a trip to Zambia and realized something needed to be done there to make the community stronger. After they returned, they decided to build a maternity hospital so babies could be delivered properly.
The village of Mugarameno is now home to the brand-new Claire Kartagener Maternity Ward. This maternity ward is fully staffed and maintained by medical professionals and is providing much-needed medical services to expecting mothers. Since the hospital opened, the nurse, Rosemary, has safely delivered 150 babies. The news of the maternity ward and Rosemary’s great efforts is spreading around the village. Women are being encouraged to go to the maternity ward for medical assistance, advice and for delivering the babies.
Since the maternity ward has become so successful, there is a house being built adjacent to the hospital. This house will be for a doctor who will be stationed at the village to help with the deliveries. There will also be dormitory-style rooms in the house that will be available for any volunteers visiting and helping at the facility.
The KAI Foundation has done a lot for the village of Mugarameno and Zambia, and it is continuing its efforts to help build better communities.
