Today is my second annual Patrick’s Pals golf outing at Station Ridge Golf and Country Club in Whitehouse Station, N.J. The outing benefits the Patrick’s Pals Foundation, founded in 2008 to provide children with multiple disabilities the equipment and therapies necessary to function on a daily basis. Patrick’s Pals was started by Jim & Kerry Conmy in honor of their son, Patrick, who was born with special needs which have left him unable to do many things for himself. In raising and caring for Patrick, Jim and Kerry realized how difficult it can be to provide a disabled child with costly necessities like therapy and equipment. All proceeds raised by Patrick’s Pals have positively impacted the lives of disabled children and their families by providing them with customized equipment.
It is a great day of golf and fun. Last year I bid on a round of golf at Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club on behalf of Global Traveler and its readers. In fact, I took the GT golf team out to the course on Aug. 1 for a round and a review in the October issue. This will be the first review by the chairman of Global Traveler’s Advisory Board, Mike Donahue.
