“Down the shore” is a phrase used mostly in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware to describe quality time spent at the beach.
A few of my summer weekends have been spent “down the shore” and have become core memories. My friends, family and I are not biased toward one beach; rather, we spread ourselves along the Jersey shoreline in towns like Belmar, Margate, Wildwood and Cape May.

Belmar
Good for a daytrip from the surrounding Philly areas, this Central Jersey beach is only about an hour’s drive from home. Bonus points: My parents’ season passes grant me free access to the beach 24/7.
Margate
Margate is the epitome of the Jersey Shore, combining a perfect mix of coastal aesthetics; high-end eateries; clean beaches; fun nightlife; and an energizing, boutique-lined shopping area. Full of history, each stay is as unique as the next.
Wildwood
To fulfill that classic Jersey Shore feeling, a stroll along Wildwood’s boardwalk will do just the trick. A slice of Sam’s Pizza or a Kohr Bros. ice cream cone will have you feeling like a local in no time.
Cape May
Chic and rich in old-school charm, Cape May feels like a step into a time machine. Candy-colored, Victorian-style houses line the streets as each stroll throughout town feels as nostalgic as the next. Visits to Congress Hall and Washington Street Mall are a must.

Opened March 2025, Villatel Resort Orlando is one of Orlando’s newest elevated resorts, but far more unique and private than you’ll find at many other resorts and hotels in the area. The name alone points to an experience beyond your typical hotel room or suite; here, you have the flexibility to select from a wide range of modern villas, ranging from four to nine bedrooms, as well as a series of Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy units.
