Reading Fran’s blog yesterday, I was reminded of all the helpful tips many airlines dole out to travelers on long-haul flights — ways to fight the numerous hours breathing in recycled air and tips for landing refreshed. I’ve frequently flown to Asia over the past eight years, and my experience on Asiana is always top-notch, from the tips they give to the products offered to the premium traveler. The staff helps the time go by quickly and prepares the traveler for the long day ahead of them upon landing. One perk I enjoy when flying first class are the pajamas! I recently collected a very comfortable cotton pair from British Airways. No matter what cabin I’m traveling in, when on a long-haul flight, I always change. If traveling business class, I bring presentable yet comfortable clothes to change into for sleep or in-flight relaxation. I’ve never understood travelers, especially in first class, who don’t change clothes on an overnight long-haul flight. To me, it’s a no-brainer. I take five minutes before and after take-off and landing to change in the bathroom. When I get off the flight — no matter if it is a six-, 10- or 14-hour flight — my clothes look like they did when I left my apartment. I’m ready for whatever or whoever awaits me at the airport, especially when I don’t have time to go to my hotel prior to my first meeting. Perhaps some people reading this blog will think I’m silly for changing clothes, but the amenities provided to passengers are meant to be used, and they really do help.
