Chicago Bulls Fest

by John Wroblewski

Sep 6, 2026

The Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox are headed for the playoffs, and the Bears are preparing for their season, but last weekend was all about the Bulls in Chicago. Bulls Fest attracted thousands for two days of three-on-three tournaments, youth clinics, Bulls legends and stars, art, and more.

My first stop was meeting retired player Nate Robinson. An 11-year veteran, Robinson played for seven teams, including one season with the Bulls. More noteworthy, he won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest three times. His listed height is 5’9”, which I think is a bit generous, making his three wins even more impressive.Bulls Fest

One of the most popular attractions is the exhibit showcasing the six NBA titles the Bulls won. Directly behind that is the statue of Michael Jordan, the man most responsible for those trophies.Bulls Fest

By the time I went back outside, the tournaments had started. With 50 courts, there were hundreds of games all weekend. Players of all ages showed their skills … or at least had fun. While the older folks played better, I enjoyed watching the youngsters more. After watching coaches instruct them, it was fun seeing the plays develop on the court.Bulls Fest

I also met two mascots I did not know existed. Big Ben and Benson are inflatable figures with real people inside. They are part of the family of mascots who accompany main mascot Benny to games and events.Bulls Fest

The Bulls open the season Oct. 21 in Toronto against the Raptors. By then, the Cubs and Sox could be on the way to the World Series, while the Bears hopefully are off to a great start. The Bulls can add to the fun.Bulls Fest

High-Spirited Hong Kong: The Dynamic Hub Embraces Its Maritime History and Culture

It was known as the “Kai Tak heart attack” — the thrilling, terrifying final approach into Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Airport. Airliners were required to bank sharply at the last moment, dodging hills and apartment blocks to line up with a runway jutting out into Kowloon Bay. The airport is long gone, but international visitors are arriving at Kai Tak again, albeit more sedately. Their cruise ships dock smoothly at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a modern gateway designed by Sir Norman Foster.
