“It’s a relationship that goes back farther than an old country road. There are not many things under the stars that is as strong as a relationship of a man and his dog. It is an unbreakable bond, as strong as a cord with three strings.” – The Circle, short film by Lance Holloway

I recently came across a short film produced and created by Lance Holloway. It is entitled The Circle and, if you are a dog lover like I am, the impact this short narrative has is strong and resonates deep with pet owners.

The film opens with an angler pulling his fishing rods out of the back of his truck and a lab puppy running alongside him. The immediate bond shown between the two is undeniable. As they enjoy nature and the great outdoors, their actions are a visualization of the touching sentiments expressed. The narrator discusses the relationship and connection man has to his dog and continues on about facing the inevitable heartache we feel when saying goodbye.

I think we humans are so lucky to have the chance to connect with such special companions. Dogs are considerate, kind and offer unconditional love. I went to visit my family’s lake home this past weekend, and my mom’s dog, Shika, greeted me on the porch with the greatest smile. Our bond with our four-legged friends is so influential in our lives.

The film offers an opportunity to reconnect with the core principles of the bond between master and dog, the timeless connection fueled by love and the memories we make with them.
