Next year, France’s Burgundy wine region welcomes Château de la Commaraine, a luxury hotel situated within a 12^th-century estate. This historic property will be reimagined as a 5-star hotel following a four-year restoration, complete with 37 guestrooms, on-site vineyards, spa, pool, two restaurants and a winery.

Located in the middle of Pommard village (2.5 miles from Burgundy’s wine capital of Beaune), the hotel offers both guestrooms and suites with views of the vines. One guestroom even comes with a view of the vat room, and guests can also choose to stay in the hotel’s private four-bedroom residence, boasting its own exclusive tasting room.

Elsewhere throughout the property, guests can sample wines and cocktails at a bar found within a 14^th-century tower. Château de la Commaraine’s two dining venues highlight French cuisine across a restaurant in an original cellar and a more casual bistro. Both restaurants are overseen by Christophe Raoux.

An 18-meter heated outdoor pool, two expansive terraces, 24/7 fitness center, spa and unique winery experiences will allow guests to fully immerse themselves in the natural and culinary landscapes of Burgundy. Experiences include daily viticulture activities with the team according to the season, wine tastings, visiting the cuverie and observing the wine-making process.

The hotel team can also arrange a wine safari to various local vineyards around the region, like tastings in cellars, hot-air balloon rides over the vines, bike riding through villages and abbeys, and sailing on the Canal du Centre.

The village of Pommard, where the hotel sits, is known for producing some of the finest red wines in Burgundy, especially pinot noir. This iconic wine region has been the inspiration of drinks beyond wines for centuries, including the recently launched Renais gin by brother-sister duo Alex and Emma Watson, which uses recycled grapes from the Chablis region in northern Burgundy.
