Daily

With Earth Day approaching on April 22, some of the world’s most eco-friendly hotels invite guests to celebrate sustainable choices and initiatives with a stay at their properties.

Hôtel Barrière Le Carl Gustaf St. Barth

Located on the island of St. Barth, the 21-room hotel features a system of machines throughout the property that recovers humidity in the ambient air to transform into water. The systems not only create this water but also create water free of any chlorine, chemicals and pollutants. Using carbon filters and UV lamps, the water is then bottled in the resort’s organic and completely recyclable glass.

In turn, the resort offers guests L’Eau du Carl, or water “made” in Le Carl in a bid to be more sustainable and eco-conscious. The water can be found throughout the resort and minibar.

Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa

A longtime leader in sustainable efforts, Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa was the first property in Hawai’i and first large-scale beach resort in the world awarded the U.S. Green Building Council TRUE Waste Precertification.

After completing its multimillion-dollar renovation in 2014, the resort reported, during the renovation, it diverted more than 5 million pounds of waste from the Maui landfill by donating more than 1,716 tons of furniture, mattresses, artwork, mirrors and other items to local businesses and charities. Additionally, the resort recycled more than 750 tons of metals.

As the property continues to set a high standard in sustainability in the hospitality world, Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa aims to implement more initiatives in various categories. The resort has already set its sights on food and food waste, renewable energy, green cleaning, indoor air quality and staff training.

Relax, Rejuvenate and Heal at StolenTime

At the namesake luxury, 5-star all-inclusive resort in Saint Lucia, the concept of “stolen time” used to be reserved for couples escaping to canoodle, reconnect and perhaps rekindle in sumptuous accommodations during a romantic getaway on the lush Caribbean island. But when StolenTime by Rendezvous rebranded in late 2022 to welcome all adult guests and focus more on wellness, the philosophy expanded to encompass self-reflection, personal growth and enrichment. After all, time is our most precious commodity, one that’s finite and too quickly slips through our grasp; we need to find those moments that matter and make them count.

Hotel Nice Beau Rivage Review

In the city Henri Matisse once called home — and where Musée Matisse holds his largest collection — Hotel Beau Rivage has a special connection with the artist, who first visited the hotel in 1916 and painted famous sea views from his room 89 in 1917. Today, framed Matisse prints — many brightly colored cut-out collages from the artist’s JAZZ collection — decorate its walls. Hotel guests also benefit from a partnership with the museum.
