It’s time to make your dream trip to Cyprus a reality. Many U.S. travelers might not think Cyprus is an attainable destination due to its location with no direct flights from the United States. But the extra time getting there will be well worth it to experience the beauty of Cyprus.

Ayia Napa

While in Ayia Napa, stay at Nissi Beach Resort and enjoy nice rooms, delicious food, stunning views and much more. Be sure to make time to relax on the beach and swim in crystal-clear waters. The hotel itself sits on the beach, so you’ll enjoy direct access to beach chairs, daybeds, beach clubs, beachfront restaurants, cliff-jumping spots, and snorkeling and scuba diving areas. For those looking to get out on the water, there are plenty of options for boat trips. You can go with a bigger group on a large ship or opt for a smaller, more intimate excursion. Most boat tours take you past the sea caves, which, in my opinion, are a must-see. Ayia Napa is home to some other great sites like Sculpture Park, Cape Greco National Park, The Museum of Underwater Sculpture and Ayia Napa Cactus Park.

Pafos

Pafos is rich with beautiful historic villages and archaeological sites. Stop by charming Lefkara village for traditional shops, restaurants, cafés and more. While there, visit Rouvis Silver and Lace for authentic, handmade Cypriot jewelry and laced goods. Pafos also features many historical sites, offering glimpses into the island’s ancient history. Katos Pafos Archaeological Park, one of the most important archaeological sites in Cyprus, shows well-preserved mosaic floors at The House of Dionysos that date back thousands of years, as well as Roman villas, outdoor theater and more. The Tomb of Kings is another must-see. Wander into the tombs and witness the impressive architectural technique that went into building these resting places. Other notable sites in and around Pafos include Aphrodite’s Rock, Paphos Castle and the Edro III Shipwreck.

Larnaca

Larnaca offers the perfect split between historic activities, shopping and leisurely strolls. On the historical side, stop by the Neolithic settlement of Choirokoitia, a UNESCO World Heritage site and an important archaeological area highlighting prehistoric life. The site features villages, circular houses, signs of a structured organization and much more. Another interesting visit is Saint Lazarus Church, a ninth-century church featuring the tomb of Lazarus, the biblical friend of Jesus. Guests can also stop by Lyios Lazaros Church, the Agora, Larnaca Castle and Pierides Museum. Afterwards, stroll the local shops and take in stunning views from Palm Promenade. And, at Saltlake (depending on the time of year), you can catch flamingos hanging out. (Tip: Sunset is the best time of day to visit.)
