Hiking with the Family
We had a very dry November here in Southern Oregon, which meant there were lots of opportunities to get yard work done and, far more fun, get outside and enjoy the fall colors. When my daughter called and asked if I wanted to join her family for a hike up Upper Table Rock, just a few miles from my home, I jumped at the chance.
A Quiet Getaway
If you're like me, your summer has flown by and you wonder where it's gone. The editorial team has just wrapped up the September issue of Global Traveler, and just the other day I saw a huge display of Halloween costumes at our local Costco. Thankfully, my husband and I took a welcome five-day break a few weeks ago that involved no flights or detailed planning and was blessedly unstructured. With projects around the house, plenty of company and, yes, work up until then, we were happy to make a quick and easy getaway and just chill.

A Sure Sign of Spring

And just days before spring officially commenced, this weekend saw one of my favorite signs of spring: the annual Oregon Cheese Festival.
