Celebrating the GT Tested Reader Survey Awards
Last week I wrote about traveling to Miami to attend the 22nd annual GT Tested Reader Survey Awards. Several of my colleagues as well as my husband and I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Coral Gables, while others enjoyed accommodations at Loews Coral Gables, where our celebratory event would be held on Wednesday evening, Dec. 18. Because we had a full day of travel from the West Coast to Miami, Harry and I arrived late on Monday night, giving us most of the day Tuesday to get our bearings and explore the hotel before our staff dinner that evening.

Travel to Miami
Just a week before Christmas, the FXExpress Publications team descended on Coral Gables, Florida, to celebrate the winners of our 22nd GT Tested Reader Survey awards. This was the first time we held the event in the Miami area; for years Los Angeles was the site of these acknowledgements of the leaders in the travel industry, as voted by our well-informed and well-traveled readers. That means it's been a relatively short hop for me (and within my time zone) from where I live in Southern Oregon, while my East Coast colleagues have endured a cross-country trip . . . and in December, that can be a dicey proposition with weather issues and lots of holiday travelers. This year, our journeys were reversed.
