Travel journalist Lisa Eldridge has traveled to 147 countries — 115 of those solo trips. With that travel résumé, she lives up to her Girl About the Globe platform.
Eldridge wasn’t always a frequent traveler. Many years ago, Eldridge, married and working a 9-to-5 job, was unhappily “settling for a mediocre life.” Traveling to India to find herself, Eldridge found the beginning of a new life and career.
In 2012 Eldridge created Girl About the Globe to document her travels and support other solo female travelers. Her mission was to give a realistic view of solo travel and the personal impact it has.
Her realistic approach is what originally caught my attention. Eldridge isn’t afraid of revealing bad experiences. Those can become lessons for others. Of course, she also shares many more great moments.
In our Talking Travel interview, Eldridge discussed her goal of traveling to every country, the joy of traveling solo, establishing Girl About the Globe Foundation, possible future books and more. We also chatted about men enjoying her platform.
Soon after our interview, Eldridge headed for another solo adventure. Along with crossing another country off her list, she hopes to work on some of the potential books she has in mind.
