This past weekend we met up with friends to try something different for us: Indian cuisine at Turmeric Indian Bar & Grill in Sarasota, recently voted the No. 1 restaurant in Sarasota. I’d only had Indian food maybe twice in my life before this, so I really wasn’t familiar with it at all. Honestly, we all ended up loving it.

We started with chicken spring rolls that were so crispy and light, along with garlic naan bread that everyone kept reaching for. For entrées, I was unfamiliar with most of the menu, so I kept it safe and ordered chicken curry with rice. It was flavorful, comforting and definitely something I would order again. My friend also stayed on the safer side with the butter chicken, and she loved it, too.

Nick, my husband, decided to go with the lamb kebabs; and as you can see in the pictures, the waiter literally lit them on fire! Definitely the most dramatic dish of the night, but he said they were incredible. Mike, the most daring eater out of all of us, ordered the biryani and absolutely loved it.

The restaurant itself had such a cool atmosphere. It was modern, lively and just a really fun spot for a night out with friends.

After dinner we headed over to C’est La Vie on Main Street in downtown Sarasota for dessert. We all shared a few pastries, including apricot flan, a berry cream cake dusted with powdered sugar, and a butter cake topped with a fresh orange slices. The perfect ending to such a fun night with great friends.
