Experiencing Paris: Palais Garnier

by Megan Gragg

Sep 17, 2026

Recently, I took a European holiday for leisure, and Paris happened to be my first destination. Arriving on a Sunday on French bee, my fiancé, Sawyer, and I soon made our way to stunning Molitor Hotel & Spa. During the drive, I noticed the unique architecture and even saw the tip of the Eiffel Tower! After a seamless check-in, we settled in to our room, where we got some much-needed rest after a long day of travel.Paris Paris

After a great night of sleep, we prepared to explore everything Paris had to offer. Top of mind was food. Since we had plans to visit Palais Garnier, we decided to enjoy an early lunch at a nearby café. Le Relais Paris Opéra caught our eye with its various menu items and vibrant red awning. We were kindly greeted by the staff, who sat us facing the opera house. I enjoyed taking in the French culture and ambience. The vibrant red continued inside with velvet-lined chairs complemented by dark wood throughout. I chose creamy risotto topped with mushrooms, and Sawyer enjoyed the classic club sandwich. Both were tasty and prepared us for a day of sightseeing.Paris Paris Paris

Soon we made our way to the opera house. I knew from my research this opera house is jaw-dropping in architecture and design. My research was, in fact, correct; everything inside was breathtaking, and I have never seen anything remotely like this. A magnificent grand staircase leads to the second floor where various balconies are found all around. We decided to take in the spectacular view and take some photos. Columns and chandeliers make it feel posh and upscale. The number of details blew me away; even the high ceilings included classical, timeless art.Paris

Just when I thought I saw it all, we walked to The Grand Foyer, where we witnessed a true masterpiece. Beautiful fine art and large columns lined both sides of the room with warm tones of lighting. This room was thoughtfully designed for spectators to mingle during intermissions. Lavish chandeliers hung on both sides, elevating the room with a luxurious feel. The entire ceiling was covered in various designs; the more you look, the more you find. I was truly amazed with this room’s careful design.

We soon made it to the auditorium where the magic happens. Red velvet was everywhere, apparently designed to enhance the complexion of women. I was truly mesmerized by the classic gold style. It must be amazing to experience a live show. Palais Garnier is truly an unforgettable experience and was my favorite sight in all of Paris.Paris ParisParis

Review: Villatel Resort Orlando

Opened March 2025, Villatel Resort Orlando is one of Orlando’s newest elevated resorts, but far more unique and private than you’ll find at many other resorts and hotels in the area. The name alone points to an experience beyond your typical hotel room or suite; here, you have the flexibility to select from a wide range of modern villas, ranging from four to nine bedrooms, as well as a series of Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy units.
