Last month, I went to Cancún for my niece’s destination wedding. My stay at Dreams Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort was simply wonderful. My full review is in the December issue of Global Traveler.
Located on a private beach 10 miles north of downtown Cancún, Dreams Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort has more than 500 rooms and suites; 65,000 square feet of pools; several dining options; a huge water slide; a golf course; live entertainment; and more. In addition to all the amenities, the ever-present staff was extremely helpful and informative.
My room featured a large balcony with a whirlpool and a couch perfect for a nap or even overnight sleep. My bed was extremely comfortable, but I couldn’t resist an outdoor sleep on a couple nights.
The several pools offered different levels of activity, depending on your mood. The younger folks in our group enjoyed the more lively pools. Looking for more relaxation, I opted one of the more remote pools.
On Sunday we found a hidden gem of a bar. By day Spin was a quiet bar, but at night it became a buzzing disco. Being a group of Chicago Bears fans, we talked the manager into putting the game on one of the big screens.
Much like the pools, there were a few options for the beaches. Parts featured sports and other activities, but there also were plenty of quieter spaces to enjoy the Gulf, including a real secluded area where my niece’s wedding took place. 
I could not want anything more from Dreams Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort, but the best part was sharing the weekend and wedding with family and friends. It was an amazing weekend, highlighted by a beautiful wedding ceremony.
