One of the most unique experiences of our recent Seabourn cruise was the cruise line’s signature Caviar in the Surf event. Held on Carambola Beach on Saint Kitts, the beach barbecue took place on the second day of our cruise and was our first real taste of the Seabourn experience.

After we tendered to the beach and snagged some beach chairs, I grabbed a front-row seat to watch the crew set up the surfboards with caviar and its trimmings and bring out coolers of iced Champagne. Another boat raced in from the ship with more crew, who happily jumped in the water to serve the caviar. Other cruise-goers made their way into the water for a taste as Champagne flowed freely. You could tell everyone — from the guests to the crew — was having a great time.

After the caviar depleted and the surfboards were packed away, we continued to relax on the beach, reading and soaking up the sun before making our way to the tented beach barbecue, where the Seabourn team was grilling lobsters, burgers and other fare.

The entire day was so much fun, we didn’t want it to end! We relaxed, indulged, met other cruise-goers and laughed. It was the perfect way to start our mother-daughter week in the Caribbean.
