Outdoor ice-skating is back in Rosemont. After a slight delay because of unusually high temperatures, Chicago Wolves Ice Rink at Parkway Bank Entertainment District was filled with skaters
Running through January 26, admission is free. Despite the delay, the rink opened earlier than its usual late November date. Attendees can bring their own skates or rent them there. Skaters of all ages and skill levels are welcome.
While I definitely rank on the low end of the skills level, I managed not to fall as I skated. More accurately, I shuffled. Either way, it is always a lot of fun.
If you’re not into ice-skating, there is still plenty of fun to be had during the holiday season. There are visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus, free horse-drawn sleigh rides, carolers and ice sculpting. The huge tree is the focal point of decorations illuminated by 80,000 lights.

Parkway Bank Entertainment District covers 200,000 square feet. There are several restaurants, Zanies Comedy Club, iFly indoor skydiving, a bowling alley and more. I’ve worked my way through all of the dining options, with my favorite seemingly changing with each visit. Conveniently located just west of Chicago with plenty of free parking, the area has become one of the best and most popular entertainment destinations in the Chicago area.
