I often go to Chicago suburb Rosemont as an entertainment destination. Last weekend my visit was for a more serious reason: the 9/11 NEVER FORGET Mobile Exhibit.

After New York City firefighter Stephen Siller heroically gave up his life saving others in the 9/11 attack, the Siller family started the Tunnel to Towers Foundation to honor his memory. Debuted in 2013, its 9/11 NEVER FORGET Mobile Exhibit honors all who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

A high-tech, 83-foot tractor trailer becomes an 1,100-square-foot exhibit to educate and remind folks about the horrific moment. The exhibit includes steel beams from the towers and other artifacts, recordings of first responder radio transmissions, videos and much more. It has been to almost every state, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors.

No pictures or words can truly capture the magnitude of this exhibit. Visitors cried, prayed and hugged each other. All left with a feeling of sadness yet gratitude for the heroes that day and life today. Even on the ride home, the usual traffic jam didn’t bother me.

By Sunday, the 9/11 NEVER FORGET Mobile Exhibit was on the road again to its next destination. Its powerful message will not be forgotten.
