Bustling Beijing

Beijing is home to more than 21 million people and one of the most important cities in China. With so much going on in a single city, there is a good chance you will find yourself traveling to China’s capital at some point, be it for business or pleasure. Make the most of your trip with an incredible few days of sightseeing and experiences.

Day 1

Beijing has been the political center of China for most of the 20th century. In that time, many sites gained incredible significance. Use your first day in the city to explore the museums and get first-hand exposure to Beijing’s culture. Check out the Palace Museum first. This is a huge complex including places to eat, museums, tours and more. You can spend most of your first day here, and you would have a tough time absorbing it all. Stop by Temple of Heaven to explore the famed temple complex. After exploring temples and museums, stop by Tiananmen Square.

Day 2

Take the day and make the journey north to see the Great Wall, one of China’s greatest attractions and Beijing is the perfect base of operations. One of the popular visit points is located just less than an hour and a half from Beijing’s city center. Take a tour, get something to eat and spend the day in the shade of one of the world’s most splendid structures.

Day 3

On day three, we are back in Beijing proper to take in every bit of culture before its time to head home. Beijing is packed with history and, as such, there are plenty of amazing places to soak in the city’s storied past. Visit Zhengyang Gate for a look at a historic gatehouse and an accompanying museum. Yuanminguan Park is home to ruins and especially worth visiting if it is a nice day. The Forbidden City is also a must-see on your final day in Beijing. Finally, be sure to hit Beihai Park. This park is on the site of the 1,000-year-old imperial park.
