You can fine-tune your spell-casting skills and potion-making potential at the Wizardry School in Manchester, England, on Feb. 23. The venue? The Monastery, a spectacular heritage structure once listed as one of the 100 most endangered sites worldwide. A total of 250 students will be accepted for the full-day event — Muggles included. The Monastery will temporarily be transformed into The Monastery of Magic for the day, with a curriculum on Wand-Dueling, Potion Making, Herbology and Secrets Behind the Magic.
Students who take part in the program will be required to sign the Charter of Responsible Wizardry, and the interactive classes and sessions will be led by Wizard Masters fully trained in the ancient arts. Along with enjoying a lunch in the Grand Hall reminiscent of the dining hall from the Warner Bros. Harry Potter film series, students will be instructed during four magical classes, and learn to wield a hand-lathed wooden wand theirs to keep.
Celebrate during a graduation ceremony at the end of the day in the Great Nave, where an actor who appeared in one of the Harry Potter films will present certificates. Parents, guardians or other adults interested in exploring the historic building can help pass the day with a traditional afternoon tea in The Monastery’s Victorian Pantry. Other dates may follow in the future. The per-person fee for the Feb. 23 event is £99 (approximately $127).

Apr 17, 2024Amansara Review
It was more than a car journey; it was a transition between worlds. At our first hotel in Siem Reap, huge coaches constantly pulled up outside the lobby to deposit or receive international tour groups; we departed in very different style, in a 1965 black Mercedes limousine once owned by King Sihanouk. The mundanities of mass tourism were left behind. We progressed through the chaotic Cambodian streets in regal comfort and soon arrived at a solid gate.
