Overlooking the Big Sur Coast, Hyatt Carmel Highlands offers 48 sumptuous guestrooms, all newly renovated just in time for its 100th anniversary. The cliff-side resort originally opened in July 1917, two decades before California’s iconic Highway 1 opened. Known for outstanding service and world-class dining, the hotel was a dream project of Carmel-by-the-Sea co-founder J. Franklin Devendorf. As part of the anniversary celebrations, the property will host the Forks.Corks.Action! Winemaker Series with two delicious events this fall — both with locally sourced menus by executive chef Chad Minton.

On Sept. 28, it’s a benefit dinner by DeTierra wines and the National Steinbeck Center, with guest speaker and Steinbeck Scholar Susan Shillinglaw entertaining diners with Steinbeck tales while they enjoy a four-course meal paired with wines. The setting is The California Market at Pacific Edge Wine Room, with wines from De Tierra Vineyards. Winemaker Anna Russell will be on hand to share stories of the vineyard’s sustainability and organic farming practices. On Nov. 9, also at The California Market at Pacific Edge Wine Room, winemaker Matt Shea will present featured wines from Bernardus Winery.
