Windstar Cruises sets a new standard in river-to-ocean cruising with the upcoming launch of Star Explorer, a vessel purpose-built to navigate both rivers and coastlines. Debuting this December, the new ship unlocks itineraries that move effortlessly from city centers to lesser-known ports across Europe and beyond.
The new ship spans 112 spacious suites, nearly all with a full private veranda or floor-to-ceiling infinity window, as well as the brand’s new specialty restaurant Basil + Bamboo.

Star Explorer’s 2027 voyages will include:
Impressionist France (10 nights)
Ideal for Seine veterans ready to go further, this voyage travels from Bordeaux to London, with overnights in Bordeaux, St. Malo and Paris/Rouen, as well as access to D-Day beaches.
Ireland Circumnavigation (10 nights)
Travelers wishing for a wilder landscape will find it on this journey, which calls at Cork City Quay on the River Lee before continuing along Ireland’s coastlines of cliffs and castles.
Moroccan Markets & Iberian Icons (eight nights)
Danube cruisers seeking deeper cultural exploration will want to opt for this trip, which ventures into Seville via the Guadalquivir, and then continues to a broader mix of Iberian and Moroccan destinations.
Connoisseur’s Delight: Northern Spain & Portugal (eight nights)
Travelers who already sailed the Rhône will uncover more on this wine-focused experience, extending from France into Spain and Portugal, pairing Bordeaux’s Garonne and Gironde rivers with culinary discoveries along the Spanish coast and time in Portugal’s Douro region.
