North American travelers typically head to the Caribbean during the cold winter months, but it might be time to change that and visit during the summer months. TradeWinds, the eco-conscious catamaran charter and land vacation company, encourages travelers to visit sites like St. Maarten, Antigua, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in the next couple of months.
“There’s a reason winter is popular — the Caribbean is beautiful year-round,” said Neil Parsons, president, TradeWinds. “What surprises many of our guests is how special summer can be. It feels like you’ve been let in on a secret, with quiet anchorages, room for spontaneous excursions, and a deeper connection to the destination.”
To streamline this new movement, TradeWinds is offering guests who book their sailings or land vacations by April 30 an additional 40 percent off summer rates in St. Maarten, Antigua, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. There are a variety of different itineraries catering to different interests. To book a single cabin, villa room or charter a whole yacht, call TradeWinds at 1 855 600 5821 or email support@trade-winds.com.
For those that need some convincing, here are some reasons to visit the Caribbean and go sailing in the summer months:
- It eases seasonal pressure on beaches, coral reefs, ports and local infrastructure
- You help support local businesses during the off season
- Summer brings warmer waters and lush, green scenery; chances to see local marine life like sea turtles and rays; fewer crowds; easier access to restaurants, markets and community gatherings; and much more.

On the other side, the scenery changes: Cliffs rise like walls, vineyards clip past in neat rows, pine trees line the road. Between these, cities give way to small communities with art galleries, local restaurants and shops selling beachwear.
